Shetland Pony Enthusiasts of Victoria ~ News
Following our General Meeting it was decided to hold our Annual Shetland Show on the 20th & 21st December 2008 (Christmas Show) at the Bendigo Showgrounds, this will incorporate a full programme with Saddle, Harness, Child Hander, Open Led, Coloured Classes and Geldings, Foal Futurity classes (covering 2007/2008) and Foal Maturity Classes (covering 2007/2008)
The Show was originally booked for the Geelong Showgrounds but with further investigation we decided unanimously that the current prices for exhibitors are excessively high therefore the venue was transferred to the Bendigo Showgrounds. If anyone would like clarification with any of the above please do not hesitate to contact me via email
scentron@bigpond.net.au.
Programmes for the show will be printed at a later date in the Shetland Newsletter and APSB Show Schedule.

Dunthomas Shetland Stud News Dunthomas Shetland Stud proudly introduces:
Wells Highclass (imp)
4 years, 10.1/2h, Black, Born 10/7/2003
Dunthomas Shetland Stud has imported this top quality stallion from Scotland. He arrived in Australia on the 4th of August, 2007, but due to the Equine Influenza outbreak he has had to remain in New South Wales at Chris & Helen Chugg's Diamond B Farm at Glossodia. Highclass has to remain there due to EI quarantine rules that require him to be quarantined at Glossodia and again at the NSW/QLD border. The Chugg's are in training for the Beijing Olympic games and can't go into quarantine. It wouldn't be fair to stop all horse movements for them for two weeks. I have always loved the Wells Stud and wanted one of their ponies. And now I have what I always wanted in this lovely young stallion. I can't wait to see his foals on the ground by 2009. I will be accepting outside mares to Highclass in the near future.

Harviestoun Pharoah (imp)
News from Gleneagles Stud (NZ):
It was with real regret that Pharoah's trip to Australia this season had to be cancelled because of the Equine Flu epidemic. All deposits were promptly refunded in full. I cannot imagine what it is like for all of you trapped in this hideous flu situation.
I am currently considering sending Pharoah to the AI station to have semen collected; the other alternative is to reconsider sending him to Australia for the 2008 season. His stud fee will likely be reduced because of the hardship many pony breeders will be facing.
Thank you to all of you who enquired about Pharoah for stud. Your response was terrific and the quality of your mares impressive.
Pharoah's yearling colts will shortly be advertised both on the Shetland Sales website and on the NZ Shetland Pony Society website - www.shetlandpony.org.nz
I wish all of you and your ponies a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year 2008.
Kindest regards
Sue Jackson

Shetland Pony Enthusiasts of Victoria ~ News
Hi Everyone,
Sorry to disappoint everyone but the Annual Shetland Show that had been postponed until the 8th & 9th March 2008 has also been cancelled. The APSB has cancelled all Group Shows until the end of March 2008, due to the Bio Security problems associated with holding these events. Therefore our Annual Show will not be held until the 6th & 7th December 2008
Updated Information – Foal Futurity & Foal Maturity classes for 2007
Due to the cancellation of our 2007 Annual Show we will endeavour to cater for those ponies that were eligible for the Foal Futurity and Foal Maturity at the Show.
Therefore, for the 2008 Annual Shetland Show there will be two sections
1. Foal Futurity 2007 (ponies eligible for the 2007 show)
2. Foal Futurity 2008 (ponies eligible for the 2008 show)
As advertised, earlier if there are enough ponies entered in the Foal Futurity that would be eligible for an 8.2u section then we could possibly spilt the classes so please enter all the unborn foals to be eligible, if you need any further clarification please contact me via email scentron@bigpond.net.au

Other SPE news is that they are considering splitting the Foal Futurity and adding an under 8.2hh Futurity if sufficient numbers. The situation facing
Project Hope with the Kyneton horses is very severe.
